About

Ida Lorentzen is an artist known for her paintings of rooms, spaces and light, with works reflecting both Nordic mystical detachment and stark American realism and filled with a deep reverence to history of places and lived life. Living and working on one of Oslofjord’s inner islands, the atmosphere in which she lives is reflected in the quietness of her work. Over five decades she has had more than 30 solo exhibitions, participated in countless group shows and has won the American Academy of Arts and Letters Purchase Prize. Currently she is receiving the BKH Three-Year Artist Scholarship, which is one of Norway's largest scholarships.
